The Women
"The Women" series is a continuing study of the female form in its many
shapes, colors, and moods.  Some female forms tell a story, while others
simply arouse interest in their inherently unique compositions.  I have been
increasingly interested in featuring fertility figures in my work as the
season of childbirth and child rearing becomes increasingly prevalent
in my own life.

"Two Maroon Women" is loosely based on a 1967
photo by thomas nebbia..  The Maroon people
are native Africans who escaped the slave
trade to Jamaica.  As you can see, their faces
tell a story of a difficult life.  Each line on
the face perhaps carries the strengths, fears,
and triumphs of their ancestors.
